Why I Created This Assessment

I'm Brett Lyons, founder of TLSA. For more than 35 years, I’ve worked with Sales Directors, sales leaders and sales organisations across a wide range of B2B markets.
One thing I’ve consistently seen is that the role of Sales Director is very different from simply managing sales. It requires the ability to step above day-to-day performance, think strategically and create the direction, priorities, environment and capability that drive sales success.
I developed this diagnostic to give Sales Directors an opportunity to step back from the demands of the role, gain a different perspective on their strategic contribution and identify where they can have the greatest impact.
I hope it gives you a valuable opportunity to reflect on your role, recognise what you already do well and identify where you can make an even greater strategic contribution.
Before You Begin
The Sales Director role is demanding and requires you to operate effectively across a broad range of strategic responsibilities.
As you complete the assessment, select the response that most accurately reflects your current position. Challenge yourself to distinguish between what is intended and what consistently happens in practice.
Assess the reality, not the intention.
There are no right or wrong answers. The quality of your results and Strategic Development Roadmap will depend on the accuracy of your responses.
